Summary 

Influencer marketing is widely used today across many sectors, and by many sectors, large and small. Younger consumers, Gen Y and Gen Z, are driving growth, inspired by influencers whose messages resonate with them, and tourism businesses are increasingly using influencers to generate awareness and build trust among new audiences. 

Acorn Tourism was commissioned by the CBI to research this exciting and dynamic marketing technique to help SMEs in developing countries to understand the concept of influencer marketing and learn how to implement influencer marketing into their own business. 

Our Approach 

Acorn Tourism used its tourism marketing expertise and knowledge to delve deeper into influencer marketing to uncover the role of influencers in today’s business arena. The study analysed the different levels of influencer, what travel influencers can do for a brand and the benefits of working with travel influencers. It provided tips on how to find influencers and whether to use a service agency or manage influencers in-house.

The study also provided a selection of profiles of travel influencers who are prominent in their field, discussing their different activities and how they position themselves in the travel industry. It also profiled a number of successful campaigns over the years.  and outlines the wide range of marketing activities influencers get involved with. 

This study is part of a range of detailed business guides Acorn Tourism has written and researched, aimed at SMEs in developing countries. They are commissioned by the CBI, Netherlands Enterprise Centre, one of Acorn Tourism’s long-term clients.

Packed with information and tips, Acorn Tourism produced this insightful business guide to help local tour operators all over the world understand this dynamic and fast-moving marketing technique, supporting them to understand the benefits of working with the right influencer.
